SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

Getting together for some fun and fundraising is an important
part of the Rotary experience. Our Rotarians do enjoy social activities
and we usually have a big turn-out for each event.
Casino and Mardi Gras Party 2006. Please Join the Rotary Club of North Bethesda in Support of its KATRINA RELIEF EFFORT at a Casino and Mardi Gras Party. There will be Louisiana Food, Music, Fun and Prizes on Saturday, February 18, 2006 at 7:00 P.M. View the Party Flyer here for more information... Mardi Gras Party Flyer
Charter Night Dinner. Each year in March we celebrate
the founding of our club. This event is filled with good camaraderie,
a sit-down dinner, dancing and a libation or two. You see lots
of tuxedos and formal dresses which adds an elegant touch to this
prestigious gathering of Rotarians and their guests.
Golf Outing. Our annual golf outing is a real success
in both fun and fundraising. Historically, the outing is for us
amateurs, not "professional" golfers. All foursomes head out in
hopes of hitting the ball straight. All club members help with
the outing even if they do not play golf. The proceeds from the
outing go to support our club’s charitable activities.
President’s Reception. This event is held in June to welcome
our incoming president. It is hosted by the outgoing president
and takes place at a member’s home. The reception is typically
scheduled just before the Rotary International convention or immediately
after the president-elect returns from the convention.
Silent Auction. Although started as a social event for
members and their guests, the silent auction has become an important
fundraising event. Members and other local businesses contribute
items to be auctioned. The auction includes a sit-down dinner,
some good cheer, and plenty of time for everyone to bid on the
wide array of items on display.
Holiday Party. This family event is for the kids in all
of us. Held on a Saturday morning in December, we enjoy good food
and some holiday spirit. Santa Claus joins the party with gifts
for the children. Each member is encouraged to bring guests to
help celebrate the season.
Over the years there have been other social activities. These
events include Valentine parties at member homes, hospitality
suites at the Rotary District Convention, and family picnics.
Some even say that our Friday morning meetings rank at the top
of the club’s social activities.
